Himalayan Cedarwood, also called Tibetan Cedarwood or Deodar Cedar, is native to the Himalayas where the bark and twigs are steam distilled to produce an exceptional cedarwood essential oil. The word deodara from the botanical name Cedrus deodora is derived from the Sanskrit term meaning & wood of the gods.” It has been used for centuries in various cultural religious and ceremonial traditions. In Ayurvedic medicine, the essential oil has been historically used as an insect repellent for the hooves of horses, cattle and camels, and for preserving meat, grains, spices, and for clothing storage. Himalayan Cedarwood essential oil is a good choice for many applications intended for repellent, mood, nervous, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and skin & scalp conditions.
